Georgia Rumsby offers a caring and professional dog grooming service – with a difference! Many of us consider our pooches to be a valued and much-loved family member, which means we’d love them to be a part of our wedding day too! Here’s how Georgia can help …
Hi Georgia. How did you become involved in the dog grooming business?
I’ve always had a love of animals since a young age and enrolled in veterinary nursing in 2014 to make a career from it. I started out with a special interest in equine studies, but due to a horse-related accident resulting in the loss of my right eye, I turned my interests into predominantly small animals. This is where I inadvertently stumbled across dog grooming!
To look on the bright side, I probably never would have found my love for dog grooming or a better opportunity to run my own business. I completed a course in Ulladulla, learning the ins and outs of dog grooming in 2018. From there, I began grooming from my parents’ garage for a few months, before moving and setting up a salon from my home in Calala.
What are the general day to day services you offer through Sublime K9?
I’ve recently added the wedding service, so mostly dog grooming at this stage. This includes bathing, blow-drying, clipping, nail trimming, ear cleaning and some cute photos of the finished makeover. Some of my regular clients have a bit of a following on my social media pages, which is always nice to see.
It’s very unusual – and amazing! – to find a dog grooming business that provides a wedding service! What’s involved with this process … and exactly what can you offer?
So basically, I offer to take your dog to and from your wedding ceremony, photo locations, reception, wherever you may want them to be included on the day. Usually, I’d pick up your furry friend the morning of the wedding, take them back to my home salon, bath, blow-dry and give the final touches, before arriving at your chosen location ready to be of assistance where needed. I also come prepared with treats and the assurance that your pet is being supervised at all times.
At the end of the day, I can transport them home, feed and ensure they’re looked after for the night, leaving you to enjoy your evening.
I’ve also begun offering custom made floral collars to match the bride’s bouquet for the girls or bow ties for the boys. I’m pretty flexible and am open to any ideas that the happy couple may like!
What’s the most unusual/quirky request you’ve ever had to get a pet ready for a wedding?
One couple insisted that their dog wear a sign down the aisle saying, “Just here for the cake!” – which was a crowd favourite.
What do you most enjoy about your work?
So many things! I love building trust with the dogs I work with; after all, I use some very sharp equipment, so it’s important that they can put their trust in me. I enjoy seeing the variety of breeds and the different traits that make them so unique … I also love being able to offer such a special wedding service to like-minded people who really do see their dog as a part of their family; it’s something I find very rewarding.
What’s the best way to get in touch with you?
I’m not always able to answer the phone when I’m grooming, so for a quicker response, please send a text message, or find Sublime K9 Grooming and Wedding Services on Facebook – send me a message there, and I’d be more than happy to answer any questions you may have!
Thanks, Georgia.
