Australia Day 2017 is a celebration for our whole community to enjoy. There will be all your favourites, as well some exciting new additions, so come along and celebrate all things Australian with your friends, families, neighbours and workmates.

The official Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony will start at 10am in the Armidale Town Hall. Please come along and join us as we congratulate the Australia Day Award recipients and welcome our new Australian Citizens to Armidale and Australia. This year there are sixteen Armidale Regional Council residents expected to receive their Australian Citizenship. It is a memorable occasion, where we can appreciate and recognise the wonderful people who go an extra mile in our community.

The afternoon activities will kick off at 2pm in picturesque Civic and Curtis Park. This is promising to be another fulfilled Australia Day, so come early and bring your picnic rug, so you can secure your favourite spot to enjoy the afternoon. All the favourite traditional games will be back, including egg and spoon races, sack races, and don’t forget our famous lamington eating contest – you’d better start practicing! There will be a variety of local market and food stalls to tempt your taste buds, or you can pack a picnic basket to enjoy with your friends and family.

For all those music lovers out there, we will be playing the Triple J Hottest 100 countdown all afternoon, and the Welders Dog will be there to entertain with some backyard cricket and a few other games, before fireworks finish off the day.

There are some fun surprises planned for the day. For more information on the fun activities that are planned, please follow Armidale Regional Council on Facebook.
